He makes all things NEW

The spring and summer months have proved to be busy busy times for us all here at Signs of Love Honduras!!
Check out a few NEW things that God has been working through Signs of Love!

First off, I would like to introduce you to the newest member of our team, Zenia Boves.

Back story: Hopefully many of you know, it is Signs of Love's focus to really get the Hondurans involved so that ideally, the organization can be run by it's own people, and for the North Americans to eventually step out of the 'long term' picture. So, in taking the next step towards this goal, this past June, Zenia has joined our team as our new Administrative Assistant! We are so very excited to have her on our staff and for all that God is planning to do for Signs of Love through her.
Apart from her extremely friendly personality and deep desire to serve our Lord Jesus Christ, Zenia is the mother of a Deaf little girl named Alison, allowing her to connect with other parents of the Deaf here in La Ceiba and the villages surrounding.

Second, New village program!
As of May, 2013, Signs of Love has been working to bring language and the gospel to seven different villages along the north eastern coast of Honduras. This past June, the team split up into two groups in the little town of Balfate, to go searching for Deaf in the area so we could start a village program there. The search was filled with funny stories of being turned around and of being led to wrong houses, but at the end of the day, a great success. The team handed out flyers to each Deaf for the very first program to be held in their village two weeks later.
On July 8th, the Signs of Love team packed up to head to Balfate for their very first program for the Deaf.
As you will see from the photos below, the program was a blast! Words cannot express the overwhelming feeling you get when you realize, this is the very first time any of these kids have felt special because something was done specifically for them, in THEIR language. The program in Balfate was very special to all of the new Deaf we found, but it was also a very special experience for me, and I imagine our whole team, as we were reminded that this is why we do what we do, because if we don't, who will?

The last "new" topic I wanted to share with you all, is the use of technology with our Deaf here in Honduras. Learning bible stories in villages or in the van ride to villages will never be the same thanks to an iPod given to SofL.

Please check out this video of Marvin watching the dramatization of the bible for the very first time on our way to a village. His facial expressions are the best!!
